I don't know if this is allowed, but here is one of my latest albums if you want to listen to what I create: English is not my first language, but if it's clear, it will be easier to understand. I only ask to be clear, maybe giving a step by step advice. If there is anything you can recommend, from Studio One tutorials to anything you've read, personal advice, tips, or even 1 on 1 lessons. So after many attempts, I really want to get this sorted once and for all. I've often produced tracks that sounded great in the DAW and then were completely ruined once they were uploaded on streaming platforms.

Even after a professional mastering (and with good feedback from the mastering engineer), they sound kind of squashed (probably due to overcompression, but I'm always quite careful when using a compressor) and quieter compared to other tracks. Many times I end up with tracks that sound good, but don't have a lot of dynamics. I've been producing for 4 years so I'm not really an expert, I am still learning everyday. I'm willing to send you one of my SongFiles privately, if anyone has some free time to help me out. I'm mixing everything to hit 0 in the VU meter (using the presonus one at the moment), nothing is going beyond 0, but my master channel is still clipping.Īlso every channel meter (set to Peak/RMS) is between -18 and -12, some other sounds even quieter than that. There is one thing I am not really understanding though. I also always go for another round of mixing, once the production phase is over, to check if everything is well balanced or if there's any more changes to make. I'll try to be brief: I produce and usually mix as I go. So I'm trying to mix using the VU Meter more in my sessions and there is something I'm not really understanding.
